I am Ella Tighe
Independent Dance Artist & Yoga Coach

I have been performing, making and teaching dance in the UK and internationally since 2015. My practice spans across dance, yoga and performance art. It is underpinned by improvisatory and somatic based practices. 

I have a BA in Dance Making & Performance (Cov Uni, UK) and an MA in Performance Practices from ArtEZ (NL). During my MA I undertook a 2 year artistic research entitled The Hospitality of Surrender; Redefining Agency in Dance Practice. The research produced the performance FORMLESS, a thesis and I authored a self-help style book entitled The Hospitality of Surrender; Invitations for Practice & Life.  

I started practicing Ashtanga Yoga with Ervin Menyhart 10 years ago and since then yoga has sat beside and around my dance practice. I became an apprentice to my teacher Ervin and undertook my 200-hour teacher training through a traditional Ashtanga apprenticeship route. I took further trainings in Mandala Vinyasa and Rocket with The Yoga People and Tripsichore with Edward Clark. Over the years I have invested in my yoga practice, working with some of the most highly esteemed teachers such as Mark Kan, Eileen Gauthier and Ambra Vallo. Most importantly I have always dedicated myself to a rigorous self-practice in both Mysore style Ashtanga and Vinyasa. 

 I have taught dance and yoga in a range of different contexts varying from London yoga studios, to Bachelor dance programs, in primary & secondary schools and I have worked with a range of people with different bodies, abilities and needs.
