MEET ELLA!

I’m Ella Tighe, a dancer and yoga practitioner/teacher. I began dancing when I was six years old and I haven’t stopped since! I have built a career as an independent dance artist after undertaking a BA in Dance Making & Performance and an MA in Performance Practices. I have performed, taught and made work for audiences both in the UK and in Europe. Ten years ago when starting my training in dance I fell in love with yoga. I began practicing Ashtanga Yoga and quickly became an apprentice with my first teacher Ervin Menyhart. For the past ten years yoga has aligned with my dance practice and I have built both a teaching style and a practice of dance which integrates both of these. Over the years I have invested in my yoga practice, working with some of the most highly esteemed teachers such as Mark Kan, Eileen Gauthier and Ambra Vallo. Most importantly I have always dedicated myself to a rigorous self-practice in both Mysore style Ashtanga and Vinyasa. 

 

I have taught dance and yoga in a range of different contexts varying from London yoga studios, to Bachelor dance programs, in primary & secondary schools and so I have worked with a range of people with different bodies, abilities and needs.

wHAT IS PERSONALISED PRACTICE?

 
 

Personalised Practice is a bespoke 1:1 online yoga program designed based on your yoga goals, needs and desires. 

 As a member of the Personalised Practice Program you will receive: 

  • 1:1 live online tuition with Ella scheduled across each month 

  • A bespoke yoga flow/practice plan designed specifically around what you wish to achieve in your practice 

  • Weekly check ins via google forms, zoom calls and exchanging videos around what you are working on – with feedback from Ella in response

  • The opportunity to join the Self Practice sessions and the weekly Vinyasa class as part of your sessions 

HOW it works

  • Personalised Practice takes the form of online coaching - through zoom classes, 1:1’s, zoom calls and self practice sessions

  • It is a monthly ongoing investment (both in terms of time and financially)

  • It involves working with Ella on a 1:1 basis, getting individualised attention for you and your practice

 
 
 

an individual practice designed for you

After an initial conversation, I will design and teach you a yoga flow based on the things you want and need to work on to develop your practice.

For example if you want to develop an inversion practice (headstands/handstands/pincha) - I will design a flow that will build the foundations & technique to work into these poses. If you have extremely tight hips - I will design a flow that will focus on eliminating the tension and working through this tightness. What you work through in your practice depends on what you come to me seeking.

The flow can be catered around the amount of time you have to spend in your practice through your week. It will be a flow which you practice in your own time (or in the Self Practice Group Sessions). It will be designed to fit into your lifestyle.

You will have a weekly check in. I will ask you about how you have found the flow and make any changes/tweaks depending on how you have got on. You can ask me questions and we can work through any problems that might have arisen in relation to the practice.

Self Practice Sessions are open to all members of Personalised Practice. It is an online open space in which you can join and do your practice in the company of other practitioners and under Ella’s guidance - offering you live feedback and adjustment.

You will be added to the Facebook community where we will share questions, stories, progress updates, tips and tricks. Additionally there will also be meet ups and other events added to the schedule!

Why the need for Personalised Practice

Over my years of teaching, students have often asked me how to achieve certain poses, how they can advance their practice, move into deeper spaces or work with injury/weaknesses/problem areas. What holds most people back is a lack of consistent practice, guidance or knowledge. From my personal experience as a yoga practitioner, I have benefited the most from practicing under the careful guidance of my teachers in combination with committing to a self practice.

Group yoga classes are great, but they often don’t give the time and space for teachers to observe and see what’s actually happening with you and your body.

Personalised Practice aims to provide a space to give you the 1:1 attention you require to take your practice forwards with care and commitment.
